Only IIGs can sell bandwidth
Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Council - BTRC has directed that only the International Internet Gateway or IIGs can sell bandwidth.
According to BTRC, till December 14 this year, licensed IIGs as well as nationwide, zonal or divisional level internet service providers will be able to sell bandwidth to Category A, B, C or Thana and Upazila level ISPs.
From December 15, every licensed ISP will be required to purchase bandwidth only from IIGs.
The BTRC said legal action would be taken against those who violated the directive in accordance with the Bangladesh Telecommunications Control Act, 2001, including the revocation of the license.
